MiC LOWRY release their brand new EP 'Mood'

MiC LOWRY have finally dropped their new EP MOOD, and it’s safe to say that we’re already hooked.
Co-written by the band, the EP was recorded in Liverpool, London and L.A. with some of the best producers in the world. The likes of MNEK, Stereotypes, Harmony Samuels and Shift Key helped to bring the best out of the five piece. The EP is predominantly RnB flavoured, however, we also see MiC LOWRY intertwine elements of funk, hip hop and garage. The Liverpudlian quintet showcase their flawless harmonies over seven tracks, whilst also experimenting with their usual soulful sound.
Kicking off with the previously released ‘Don’t Tempt Me’, we are immediately drawn in by MiC LOWRY’s golden harmonies and individual vocals. The slick RnB jam is the perfect introduction to what can be expected from the rest of the EP, and is one of the many moods to be showcased.
‘Boomerang’ has a bouncier RnB sound but is laced with a sexier vibe, whilst ‘Know What You Like’ is a Timbaland-inspired offering with an old-school edge. ‘2U’ is an interlude which is stripped back and fully showcases Kaine, Akia, Delleile, Michael and Ben’s vocal ability. It also allows for a switch up in sound, as the next track, ‘No Problem’ has a funkier vibe throughout.
The penultimate track, ‘Can’t Lie’, reverts back to MiC LOWRY’s classic old school sound. The track is full of emotion and once again represents a different mood. The EP is rounded off by the disco-funk laden ‘Frustration’. Ending the EP on a high, the track has elements of hip hop too, whilst the chorus is guaranteed to make you want to dance.
Speaking about the EP, Ben said: “On every song on this EP we’ve tried our best to be real. MOOD is us as we are now, a bunch of Liverpool lads trying to work out where we fit into the world and having as much fun as we can while we’re at it. The fact we’ve got this far is amazing. Where we go from here we can’t wait to find out.”
Lyrically and melodically, MOOD is the band’s most mature offering to date and is a true reflection of their artistry. It’s exciting to see how far they’ve come over the past few years, and with a strong sound behind them, we’re certain their future is going to be exceptionally bright.
